The obverse legend reading MAG BRI FR ET HI (common with groundline) was not represented in the Brooker collection for this type and is presumably rare. This coin is the original from which a large number of copies have been made and are frequently found on ebay or other sites. The listing has been retained so that people can compare any copies on offer with the original and is no longer available for purchase. This coin and the copies were the subject of an article in Spink's Numismatic Circular May 2011. Some copies have been noted that are slightly different in profile, but the detail is similar. We agree with this assessment with the caveat that the stop after the G is considerably larger than that after D and shows some structure compatible with a star - but not conclusively so. Very rare either way. Weight 0.18g. ex-Shuttlewood and Cooke. Listed in the Cooke sale as P41. (1133).

JAMES I, Harington 1b. im.Trefoil, P40, Everson 12. A nice round flan, struck slightly off-centre on the reverse. Weight 0.34g. ex-Shuttlewood and Cooke. This was listed in the Cooke sale as P39, but we believe the identification to be incorrect as the mark is clearly lobed. (1131).
